Hyperdynamics set to spud deepwater Fatala-1 well, Guinea

Fatala-1 well

The upcoming Hyperdynamics Fatala-1 well is the one to watch, as it may be the opener for offshore Guinea. The deepwater Fatala-1 well is set to spud in the first few days of August. The well, operated by Hyperdynamics (50%) along with SAPTERO (50%) will be drilled by the Pacific Scriocco drillship in 2895m of water. The target is a stratigraphically trapped turbidite fan of Cenomanian age that has an estimated Pmean of 647 MMBO. In the case of a discovery the Government of Guinea have confirmed a two-year appraisal period will be granted, in which Hyperdynamics have announced plans to drill the nearby Bamboo prospect and other targets during this appraisal period.
